• The SUPERSTAR debuted in 1969 as a basketball model and was the first low-top basketball shoe with an all-leather upper at a time when almost every player wore high-tops made of textile. At its peak it was worn by a large share of US professional basketball players, among them Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Jerry West. The rubber “shell toe” was a purely functional solution — to protect the player's toes; today it is the model's main identifying feature. The herringbone outsole gives dependable grip on a variety of surfaces.
