• The SAMBA was born from a very specific problem: Adi Dassler needed footwear that would give footballers grip when training on frozen pitches. The design was drawn up in 1949, the model went on sale in 1950, and the name was chosen after the Brazilian dance — in pursuit of popularity in South America. From the 1970s the Samba became the standard for indoor football precisely because of its grip and durability. The T-shaped toe overlay reinforces the most abraded zone, and the low grip-focused outsole is today the model's recognition mark.
