• HANDBALL SPEZIAL was created in 1979 in West Germany as a specialised indoor handball shoe: it needed stability for sharp turns and maximum grip on parquet. The late-1970s formula proved so good that the silhouette has barely changed since. In the 1980s the model was taken up by the British football “casuals” culture, and today it is one of the most recognisable adidas Originals lines alongside the Samba and Gazelle. The T-shaped toe reinforcement protects the area most exposed to abrasion, while the low-profile sole grips smooth indoor and urban surfaces.
